Neck Lift in Houston, TX
Constant neck movement, sun damage, and lifestyle habits contribute to the natural aging process and can leave the neck looking worn and loose. This laxity can become even more noticeable as many people do not place the same emphasis on caring for their neck skin as they do for their facial skin.
Because of this, the neck can look significantly older than your surrounding features, making your appearance feel unbalanced or unharmonious. Neck lift surgery is performed alone or in combination with a facelift to restore tighter, slimmer neck contours.
Am I a Candidate for Neck Lift Surgery?
Women and men turn to this procedure to address neck laxity or submental fat. Candidates should be healthy adults who do not smoke and have realistic expectations for their results. While many candidates choose to combine this surgery with another facial rejuvenation process, neck lift surgery can be performed alone.
What Are the Benefits of Neck Lift Surgery?
Neck lift surgery is beneficial for women and men with:
- Vertical banding on the neck
- Loose skin along the jawline, neck, and chin
- Excess submental fat (double chin)
- Jowls

How Is Neck Lift Surgery Done?
Neck lift surgery restores youthful neck contours by trimming loose skin and tightening the underlying muscles.
During a neck lift, the skin and platysma muscles are tightened, and excess chin fat is eliminated.
How Should I Prepare for Neck Lift Surgery?
Prior to scheduling your neck lift, you will meet with Dr. Kronowitz for an initial consultation. This meeting will allow Dr. Kronowitz to evaluate your skin condition and determine whether you are a good candidate for the surgery.
During this meeting, you will discuss the following:
- Your concerns and goals
- Your surgical options
- Your medical history
- Any medications, drugs, or supplements that may affect the surgical or healing process
Photos will be taken, and a surgical plan will be established. This consultation will also give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
Before your neck lift surgery, you may be asked to complete lab testing or modify your medication and vitamin regimen. You should stop smoking and avoid aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, and herbal supplements.
Where Are Neck Lift Incisions Made?
Incisions for neck lift surgery follow similar lines to those made during a facelift. Incisions are made on the sides of the face within the temporal hairlines. An additional incision is made under the chin to address excess fat and significant laxity. From here, the underlying tissues are tightened to smooth out deep creases and restore a more youthful contour. Excess fat and skin are trimmed.
In rare cases, liposuction may be performed on the neck; however, this is not Dr. Kronowitz’s preferred technique.
Why Should I Combine a Facelift With My Neck Lift?
In many cases, neck lift surgery is performed during a facelift to address common signs of aging in the face, neck, and jawline. This combination helps create a balanced, seamless transformation between the face and neck.
How Long Does It Take to Recover From Neck Lift Surgery?
Neck lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia, and you will require someone to drive you home after the surgery.
Bandages will be placed over the incision sites to protect the area and aid in healing. Stitches are usually removed within 10 to 14 days.
Neck lift surgery often results in moderate to significant bruising and swelling, lasting several days. Any post-operative discomfort can be remedied with prescribed or over-the-counter pain medication and cold compresses.
Most patients return to work and their normal activities after two weeks.
What Are the Risks Associated With Neck Lift Surgery?
Neck lift surgery is safe, and complications are rare; however, they are possible. These complications include:
- Negative reactions to anesthesia
- Infection
- Bleeding
- Fluid accumulation
- Prolonged wound healing
- Poor scarring/wound healing
- Numbness or changes in skin sensation
- Facial nerve injury
- Temporary or permanent hair loss at the incision sites
When Will I See My Neck Lift Results?
The results of your neck lift will develop once the bruising and swelling start to subside, and full results will appear gradually over the following weeks and months.
Following your neck lift, you can expect a more youthful and rejuvenated neck and jawline that appears years younger. Your results are expected to be long lasting, but additional aging will occur over time. Patients who maintain a healthy lifestyle and a stable weight often see prolonged results.
How Much Is Neck Lift Surgery?
Your neck lift is personalized to your needs depending on the extent of tissue laxity. The cost of neck lift surgery varies per patient and whether you combine your neck lift with a facelift.
Factors include the cost of the surgical techniques, anesthesia fees, surgeon’s fees, facility fees, pre-surgical tests, post-surgical medications, and dressings. Location and the surgeon’s experience will also influence the final cost of your facelift.

What Procedures Can Be Combined With My Neck Lift?
Combining surgical procedures is the best way to obtain natural, balanced results. Neck lift surgery is commonly performed alongside facelift surgery and facial fat transfer.
Additionally, patients can choose to add other facial procedures like an eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) or a brow lift to address the upper third of the face.
